The Lower Austrian district of Gänserndorf was the scene of a tragical incident. A 79 year-old woman was killed by her two rottweilers. The rottweilers were on duty as watch dogs.

The reason for the deadly attack is not clear. There was only one single incident in 2006. Usually the two dogs were quite calm and obedient. The victim was found by a 30-year-old woman who wanted to feed the rottweilers. She has seen the dead woman laying bathed in blood in her garden.

The 79-year-old woman was running a roofer enterprise with her 55-year-old son. Yesterday between 6:00pm and 7:00pm happened the infelicity, told the police. The guilty dogs were already punished with a lethal injection.

The female vice mayor, finance, as well as economy councilwoman of Vienna, Renate Brauner, was the first one who sent her congratulations for that success. Without that, the setup and development of the bio enterprise would have been much more difficult. “The success of Apeiron confirms our policy”, said Brauer who is a member of the Socialdemocrats.

Austrias Broadcasting Corporation ORF reports a 56-year-old poet from Vienna who is accused of smirching slabs in the Viennese Museumsquartier, which is known as the eighth largest cultural area in the world. The trial is going to start on the 18th February. A twelve months imprisonment could be possible.

The passionate poet spreads his works on small sheets in publicly accessible spots since 35 years without asking for permission. He denies the misdeed in the Museumsquartier, but the police claims that he is the guilty one for defilement of 14 stone slabs. The damage amounts 3.900 Euro.

His poetries are known to be very lyric. The poet is of the opinion that art does not need official authorizations. “Art must be intrusive and has to demand a better world”, he says. The 56-year-old already received a vast number of fines and complaints. Now it’s possible he might end in prison.

Austrian rail riders should never be in a hurry. Last year every third long-distance train arrived delayed. The reason of such a disastrous result is the high amount of construction zones.

The situation debases from year to year. In 2008 more trains arrived punctual. 2009 had an increase of 10 percent more delayed long-distance trains. A spokesman of the Austrian Federal Railway tries to calm down the raised tempers. “Our railway network is in a general reconstruction. This is going to be a very nice rail network for many decades”, he promise. The situation should improve very soon, claims the Austrian Federal Railway.

Many Haiti experts doubt the high percentage of Voodoo believers in the Caribbean country, which are published in some certain sources.

An emotional card game in a pub in the center of the province of Lower Austria caused two dead persons this week. A 76-year-old man knocked down his 67-year-old friend with a chair. When the victim died because of his injuries, the 76-year-old decided to hang himself.

Reason of the disagreement was the question if the next drink should be beer or wine, and who should pay the last glass of wine with the price of 1,20 Euro. The victim sustained a basal skull fracture and died in the hospital. When the 76-year-old man heard that, he decided to end his days. Both men were playing cards since 20 years on a regular basis.

Calculations of the National Bank of Austria revealed the fact that Austrians are not so much motivated anymore to save a lot of money. The national saving rate decreased from 12 down to 11,2 percent in the third quartal 2009.

Less money was invested into financial assets, and this is the reason of a “slower wealth building”, explains the spokesman of the National Bank of Austria. Another interesting fact of the financial situation in Austria is the insight that Austrians prefer to make more debts. The dread of debts is decreasing rapidly among the Austrian population.

Capital transactions broke down to 50 percent. Transactions of savings balances, stocks, shares, investment share certificates and life assurances decreased from 4,1 billion Euro down to 2,3 billion Euro.

Many people in Austria became the victim of internet crooks who offer cheap rental apartments at diverse internet portals. The problem is that those rental apartments are not existing in reality.

If the victims pay for key and rental agreement in advance without seeing the apartment, their money might be lost. In most of the cases the internet crooks demand two monthly rents. And the desperate lodging seekers pay.

Now the police feels compelled to warn all Austrians who are searching for an apartment with a press release. Already too many people became a victim of the internet crooks.

She was caught and brought to the next police station. According to her allegations she was thrashed in a side room and sustained a blue eye, injuries of the retina and her inner ear. Austrias daily newspaper “Kurier” tried to get a statement of the accused police station, but received no specific answer.

The newspaper wrote there were two main reasons that the policemen might lost their containment. At first the fare evasion, and secondly the fact that the lady had no identification card with her. When she was taken from the street to the police station she was screaming for help, was written in the online issue of Austrias Broadcasting Corporation “ORF”.

Viennas police confirmed that there will be a investigation of the case. Afterwards the public prosecution department has to decide if there should be a charge against the policemen or not.

It happens with increasing frequency that constructions can’t be finished because the property developer became insolvent. A big problem if the buildings were already sold, and a handover within the prescribed time limit is a lawful obligation.

The guild master confirms the poor situation of many building enterprises in Austria. “At first the own capital is quite small, and in the second place the profit margins are vanishing slim”, he knows. He explains that just a small problem during the construction phase can cause a bankrupt because of that.

A building contractor from the federal province of Salzburg claims if the orders for sponsored residential building disappear, he has to dismiss 50 employees.
