Policemen on patrol (beat constable) are going to spread notepads with messages on doors and cars.

The Viennese citizen reads messages like “We were here – the police” or “For your security on the move – the police” and should feel more secure. The new security concept of Vienna was introduced yesterday by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation “ORF” in the internet. It seems this is serious, and no crazy idea of a performance artist.

Malicious tongues claim that this is the first influence of the postmen who should work as policemen now. 1.200 of them should be retrained and extend Austrias police forces.

The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation informs that policemen should also prove their presence on the street this way. The state police commander of Vienna confirms that those notepads are very important to have contact with the people, and to increase their feeling of security.

The sister of Jörg Haider and politican of Austrias orange party called “BZÖ”, Ursula Haubner, demands more money and support for children. Reason: soon there are state elections in Upper Austria, and she is the prime candidate of her party.

Haubner thinks that there are increasing numbers of children in Austria who has to live under welfare conditions, and that such a improprietous development must be stopped. The sister of Jörg Haider reminds that the children are our “most precious possession”.

She plans to increase the children tax allowance up to 1.000 Euro in a year. “These are 80 to 85 Euro in one month”, she adds and claims that such a decision would be a noticeable relief for the Austrian families.

Haubner also wants to offer more possibilities in education, and demands a mandatory year in the kindergarten.

Reason: the mobile phone reception was not good enough for the sensitive Tirolean.

Even two times he called the office of the mobile phone operator and promised to kill everyone with a huge bomb. For those two telephone calls the reception was good enough. The employees called the police. It was easy to find the transgressor. He did not hide his telephone number. The man from Tirol was caught by the police and presented to the public prosecutor.

Harsh words come from the politican of the Freedom Party known as “David Lasar”, who is also a member of state parliament. He thinks that Vienna is not only the capital of Austria, but also the capital of burglars and thieves.

The reason for such a disastrous balance can be found in the Socialdemocratic mayor Michael Häupl, confirms the politican of the Freedom Party. The controversial mayor prefers to organize senseless signature campaigns instead to reduce the crime in Austrias capital effectively, criticizes Mr. Lasar.

Freedom Party politican David Lasar thinks that the safety concept of Viennas Socialdemocratic mayor Michael Häupl leads into the criminal doom of the popular holiday destination.

78.000 property offences were counted in the past 6 months. In the last 3 months the increases of crimes in Vienna amounts even 48 percent. “It’s ridiculous to think it’s possible to solve such problems by going to pubs and restaurants and talk to people there”, says the man of the Freedom Party. “But the peak of laughableness is a signature campaigns for 1.000 policemen in Vienna”, scoffs the politican.

Lasar thinks that signature campaigns won’t prevent one single crime, and that Viennas mayor is totally overchallenged with the critical situation. The politican of the Freedom Party keeps silent about the new plans of the interior ministry that 1.200 postmen should become policemen.

Austrias civil servant minister Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek from the Socialdemocrats has a brillant idea how to remove the lack of policemen in Austria. Yesterday she has presented he plans to the public: 1.200 postmen should become policemen.

Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek thinks that skillful postmen can help the Austrian police with valuable assistance. Her detailed plans are still a well-protected secret. She wants to present them first to the financial minister Josef Pröll from the Peoples Party.

Interior Minister Maria Fekter is delighted about the new plans of her coalition partner. “It’s a positive idea”, was her first statement in the medias. A task force of the interior ministry was created and is ready to make a plan how this project is possible to become reality.

Already last year in November the former boss of the Telekom Austria said in a newspaper interview that his employees have the power to work for the police. Reason for such a comment was his desire to get rid of many redundant employees in his enterprise.

The Austrian Federal Railway seems to have a serious problem with an internet forum about the railway in Austria, which has many critical postings. Medias report that the employees of the Federal Railway have no internet connection anymore to this website.

The Austrian Federal Railway is known to react very sensitive about critical voices. Three years ago a boycott of advertisements to those newspapers was proclaimed, who dared to write negative articles about the railway in Austria.

The Austrian Federal Railway denies that the blocking of the internet forum has something to do with the content of this website. “We just don’t want our employees to spend their time on this website during their working hours”, declares a spokesman of the Austrian railway.

The controversial internet forum called “bahnforum.info” is very successful. The visitor can find a lot of interesting postings about the Austrian railway. Many of the postings prove good insider information. The majority of the postings are quite critical towards the Austrian Federal Railway.

Politicans of Austrias most southern province Carinthia are not happy about the plans of the Interior Minister. The Interior Minister of the Peoples Party, Maria Fekter, desires more police for Vienna, which should be taken from Carinthia.

It’s a rare thing in Austrian politics when the Orange party BZÖ and Socialdemocrats have the same opinion. But in Carinthia they speak with one tongue these days. The orange people and the ones from the Socialdemocratic party think that Carinthia needs its policemen theirselves. They should not go to Vienna.

Also the minister president of Carinthia, Gerhard Dörfler (the orange ones), said that “the failures of the Austrian Interior Minister should not be decided on the back of the federal states.” “Carinthia is not guilty for the chaos in Vienna”, confirms Dörfler. He adds that Carinthian policemen should do their job in Carinthia.

Harsh words also from the Socialdemocrats of Carinthia. “The decision in Vienna is unacceptable and a provocation”, said its security spokesman Rudolf Schober. He thinks that Carinthia is going to be overrun with a wave of crime, if Vienna wants to take away the police.

Carinthia is not the only province which should lose most of its police forces. There are also signs that the Interior Minister wants to have the policemen of Burgenland to do their job in Vienna.

A group of actors was arrested by the police in a forest of Innsbruck because they wore blue and scuffed clothes. The actors gave a performance within the event called “dancing and hiking.”

As the event was already over, the victims of the police had no witnesses to prove that they are harmless. All visitors of the performance were gone. The police thought the people in those blue and old clothes are evil terrorists who are preparing an assault. The boss of the actors said that one policeman passed through his radio equipment that “there are several persons with wiggy clothes in the forest.”

It took more than one hour until the police was able to clarify the misunderstanding. Quad evidences in form of many telephone calls and calendar of events convinced the policemen that those actors were no terrorists. They were allowed to enjoy freedom again. There was absolutely no danger for Tirols provincial capital of Innsbruck.

The traffic around the parliament was blocked. The female youth spokesman of the Socialdemocrats, Angela Lueger, said that “the event was a clear protest against contempt for mankind.” Lueger thinks that it’s necessary to arise against political disagreeable appearances.

Their destination in the evening is usually an Italian restaurant. Viennese prefer Italian cuisine.

This reveals a new study of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. In spite of the financial crisis, the gourmets of Vienna don’t want to save money by choosing their meals. But they try to be economical by choosing the drinks.

42 percent of the Viennese declared that they are going to decrease their restaurant visits. In one month the average Viennese spends 57 Euro for drinks and 72 Euro for meals. Two third have a regular haunt.

Only two percent visit a restaurant every day. 20 percent several times a week, 22 percent once a week, 30 percent one time in two weeks, 26 percent rarely or never. The most enthusiastic visitors of restaurants in Vienna are between 14 and 29 years old.

Viennas most popular restaurants in the evening are Italian restaurants. 72 percent of the women and 57 percent of the men prefer the Italian cuisine.
