Austrian gift: Aztec feather headdress to Mexico?
The female presiding officer of the Austrian parliament Barbara Prammer (Socialdemocrats) has the idea to delight Mexico with a certain gift. She wants to give an Aztec feather headdress from the 16th century to Mexico. This feather headdress was brought from Mexico to Vienna in 1519.
The Freedom party and the Orange party also known as “BZÖ” are not excited about that. Freedom party general secretary Herbert KIckl said that this feather headdress is government property and it’s not possible to use it as a gift. The politican fears that there are also plans to give away parts of the Hofburg building including aggregate concrete masonry units and parquet floorings.
Kickl characterizes the plans of the presiding office as “good humanly self dramatization without any legal foundation.” He explains that there is absolutely no need for action to delight Mexico with such kind of gift.
Almost the same opinion has the foreign-policy spokesman of the Orange party, also known as “BZÖ”, Herbert Scheibner. Scheibner thinks that it’s totally unacceptable just to think about it. “There is no reason to give gifts to Mexico”, he explains.
