Financial penalty of 90 Euro for pocketed scarf
A person from Upper Austrias capital of Linz was sentenced to a financial penalty of 90 Euro by the police, because a scarf was found in its trouser pocket. The unusual ticket was issued by the police authority of Linz.
The reasoning for such a verdict is the “act for preparation of a mummery”. Scarfs are dangerous tools to hide the face. Police does not like that. They want to see the faces of everyone. Even if its very cold. In this case the police has suspected a possible crime. Reason enough to pay an appropriate financial penalty.
The lawyer of the man who should pay 90 Euro for having a scarf in his pocket can’t agree in the opinion of the police. He made a plea. The lawyer said his client can’t be punished for a scarf in is pocket, because this scarf was never used. Pictures from closed-circuit televisions on that day should prove it.
In the medias the police president tries to explain: “I can’t say anything about this specific case. But generally I must confirm that mummery is a regulatory offence.”
