Austrian photographer shows truth about North Korea
The photografer Wolfgang Bogner from Austrias federal state of Upper Austria wants to show the truth about North Korea in an exhibition in Carinthias capital Klagenfurt. Socialdemocrats are not happy about it, and talk about a “glorification of a totalitarian regime.”
The president of the Carinthian state parliament, who is a member of the Orange party, does not agree with the harsh opinion of the Socialdemocrats. He is quite satisfied with the exhibition and sees no problem in its content. The exhibition should be officially opened on the 21th October. The photographer explained that he wants to “uncover the imperialist lying propaganda” with such kind of exhibition.
The invitation of the exhibition reads as follows: “NORTH KOREA: NO FOREIGN PERSONS, NO ASYLUM SEEKERS”, and “NORTH KOREA HAS STRONG NATIONAL IDENTITY AND LOYALTY TO ITS NATION – NO FOREIGNERS AND NO ASYLUM SEEKERS.”
In the blurb of the invitation the photographer continues: “If you believe the news of the medias in the past years this country must be in a total chaos … people must eat grass … because of no electricity people must sit in the dark. But it’s not like that. It’s only propaganda.”
The photographer is going to show pictures of happy and friendly looking North Koreans in neat clothes, and confirms that nobody has to be hungry. The Upper Austrian claims as well that also on the countryside of North Korea seems to be in a very nice condition. There are no shady characters on the street, no unemployed persons, and no beggars or drunkards, he explains.
The president of the Carinthian state parliament said that the photographer just tries to document that those lies from the medias are not true. North Korea is a country of free people who do not live in poverty, and who are able to enjoy their culture.
Socialdemocrats get exasperated with the exhibition and the president of the Carinthian state parliament. “The statements of the photographer reflects the attitude of the president by 100 percent”, said the provincial chairman of the Socialdemocrats Reinhart Rohr. Rohr also criticised that the president of the state parliament denied the entry of a high representative of the EU parliament into the state parliament in July. “The situation in Carinthia is very bad”, claimed the desperate Socialdemocrat.
