Socialdemocratic mayor of Vienna expects disgusting election campaign
There is an election in Vienna next year. Viennas current mayor is already nervous. He told medias that he is going to expect a very disgusting election campaign.
The last result for the Socialdemocrats is reason enough to be nervous. The fourth place behind the Green party in the province of Vorarlberg, and the lowest percentage of votes since the second world war is not something exhilarating for a true Socialdemocrat. But the current mayor also confirms that he feels very strong and has no fear. He only worries that the election campaign might become dirty and disgusting.
His strongest oppenent is no less a figure than Freedom party leader Heinz Christian “HC” Strache. “We won’t be gentlemanly to him”, he already promised.
The Freedom party claims in a press release that Viennas mayor is just a notorious troublemaker with verbal injuries. Freedom parties secretary Hans-Jörg Jenewein even said that the mayor is tearful and a master of self-deception. “Mayor Häupl will soon experience that the downswing of his party won’t stop in Vienna”, confirmed Jenewein.
