Austrians spend 189 mio EUR at Christmas markets
Austrians love to visit their Christmas markets. A new survey revealed that any Austrian Christmas market visitor spends average 22 Euro for every visit.
This results in a total number of 189 mio EUR every year during Christmas time. The basis of the study were 245 domestic Christmas markets. Austrians prefer to spend most of their money for mulled claret and Christmas decorations.
Christmas markets are a fabulous business for the operators. The setup including cost for sales assistants and advertising for all locations take only 4 mio EUR. Sales of 189 mio EUR guarantee fat profits in this regard.
Austrias most important Christmas market is the one in Carinthias capital Klagenfurt, which has 50 days opening time. Carinthia seems to be a good place for Christmas markets. The one in Sankt Veit an der Glan takes the second place with 48 days, and Villachs market with 36 days is the third important of Austria. All three are located in Austrias federal state Carinthia.
