Carinthias pupils are violent
The violence in Carinthias schools is increasing. 12 and 13 year old pupils beat and kick their classmates, wound teachers with weapons, and arrive dead drunk to the lessons in the morning.
Most of the time the consequences of such delicts is a prescribed “school break” of 4 weeks. After those 4 weeks, the violent pupil is back, and the old game repeats itself. The bureaucracy of such a decision is enourmos. The school has to give a conference for every single case, if a school break of four weeks is necessary or not. In addition to it the pupil and his parents have the right to give their comment.
The problem is that most of the time the punishment of not being allowed to go to school for 4 weeks does not help. Then it’s necessary to declare a “total school bann”. As last chance it’s also possible to change the school. But the possibilities are limited.
Most of the problem makers come from a desolate parental home. The parents lost control of their children, others hink they are not responsible for bringing up their kids. A patent remedy is not in sight, confesses the federal schools inspector of Carinthia.
