Apprentices: the stepchildren of Vienna?
“There is a too little promotion of apprentices in Vienna”, moans the Viennese local council Helmut Günther of the Freedom Party to the direction of the Socialdemocrats. Günther thinks that Socialdemocrats are not able to realize that a purposeful promotion of apprentices is an investment for the future.
The Freedom Party man confirms that apprentices are the stepchildren of Vienna. Nobody likes them and they suffer under a rude form of discrimination. Such kind of statements were heard during yesterdays budget dispute in Vienna.
It seems the Freedom Party has found a new target group. They want to support young people with better conditions on the employment market.
Günther also fears the influx of 800 skilled workers from Eastern Europe. A better education for Viennas apprentices would make them needless.
Many things are demanded to improve the situation for the young people. But everything depends on the decision of the Socialdemocrats. The Freedom Party alone is too weak to change such kind of things. They need the support of other parties. Especially the support of the Socialdemocrats.
