The childhood of Josef Fritzl

Austrias newspaper “Ober- österreichische Nachrichten” wrote about the childhood of Josef Fritzl in todays issue.
The second world war was over when he was 10 years old. His home town Amstetten was totally destroyed by Allied bombers, and occupied by the Russian army.
Fritzl grew up in very poor conditions, and lived alone with his mother. His parents divorced after his birth. The father left Amstetten was never seen again.
His mother was a mysterious woman. She always had to protect her eyes with her hands against the sunlight.
Little Josef was bad at school, and used to play a lot of football in the streets of Amstetten with his friends. According to the opinion of a former playmate he was also a very bad football player. His playmates used to call him with his second name: “Fritzl!”
This is a very sad and disturbing story even from the begining.

This man should be treated as he treated his daughter; first tie him up like a dog, then keep him in a dark musty dungeon for 24 years and have the male prisoners rape him daily. That is justice!
In depth psychoanalysis of this man may uncover the reasons behind the cruelest crime. The law will take its course in this particular case. Politicians may plan for very serious punitive provisions against child abusers and sex offenders. People from all corners of the world may react differently and feel sympathy for the victims as the facts would continue to get uncovered.
However, the most imporatant things at the moment are 1) investigation and the rehabilitation teams should work in a coordinated manner as to reveal facts and let facts help care operations planned for the victims ; 2) Media personnel should excercise restrain over their behavior and should let the victims live a normal social life ; 3) The role of society is very important and all concerned social groups of this family should extend social acceptance and empathy for the victims so the victims can be brought to normalisation.
I agree with Eileen, Joseph Firtzl should be punished to endure exactly the same physical and psychological torture he put his daughter Elizabeth and her children through all those years. His lawyer’s plea for insanity should be denied otherwise, this would be a great disappointment and mistrust towards Austrian Judicial system. He should be severely punished to imprisonment for life and in the worst conditions possible.
On the other hand, Mrs. Rosemarie Frizl should also go through intensive questioning along with psychoanalytic sessions in order to establish her connection and co-operation with her husband’s criminal lifestyle. It’s almost impossible to believe Mrs. Fritzl was unaware of her husband’s incest relationship with Elizabeth even before the imprisonment (from 11 to 18 yrs old) for 7 years, living under the same roof. In 99% of the Incest Cases around the World, the mother knows what’s going on and acts indifferent and submissive. In also most cases the reason of the mother’s unreasonable and unexplainable behavior consists of 1) Keeping the family together 2) Keeping her husband at home instead of him straying to chase other women which Mrs. R.Fritzl has experienced in the early years of her marriage with Joseph several times.
Austrian Judicial system should not try to cover up the truth by saying Mrs. Rosemarie Fritzl was unaware of the dungeon, on the contrary they should reveal every detail about this horror story. This story should’nt be considered as attributed to Austria only but to the entire humanity. Incest is common all over the world not just in Austria. People could learn a lot from it if the Political Systems allow it…………
This monster who robbed the childhood as well as the womanhood of his own daughter should never be allowed to see the light of the world once again. Equally culpable is his wife Rosemarie, who failed to notice her daughter’s trauma at the hand of her own father, before she was eventually taken away to the cellar. It is a mother, more than anyone else, who should feel the pulse of her daughter. As such, she too, must be put beside her monster husband.
PLEASE CUT HIS PENY AND LEAVE THE OTHER PRISIONER TO ABUSE HIM SO MANY TIMES, TO MAKE HIM FEEL WHAT HIS HAVE DONE. EYES FOR EYES AND TOOHT FOR TOOTH. THAT IS WHAT HE DESERVES.HE IS A MONTROUS, NOT SORRY FOR HIM. So sad and tragic. I cannot believe that he managed to live a double life for all those years, with the other family members not suspecting anything strange and sinister going on!!
Elizabeth, you must be one very brave and courageous woman, to have survived this torment and abuse for all those years. I know that I could not have done it.
He is a monster and I agree with Eileen, let him suffer and beg for mercy every single day of whats left of his miserable life.

It seems increadible that the mother didn’t know as Matthew said it is indeed the mother who feels the pulse of not only her daughter but her son also, and i speak as a mother.
What one cannot resolve - if the daughter was an object of abuse and violence since 11 how is it that the mother allowed her to stay at home whilst she took the other children on a 3 week holiday?
The mother is without question involved perhaps under the threat of death at some point to herself or to Elizabeth, - i would hope for her sake that she is not - how could a mother live with such betrayal - how could a mother negate all maternal love and allow it to become so twisted. If there was any knowledge on the daughters part of the mothers involvment perhaps she has forgiven her mother due to her own first hand experience of the terror and pain that he was capable of inflicting, although we have no record of brutality towards the mother only that of the children.
Then i pondered how she was kept alive during his long stints away - i doubt that the
authorites will delve too deeply from all the history to the present - the motto seems to be - “ignorance is bliss.”
May the Lord bless Elizabeth and her children - a woman of exceptional courage - a woman who loved those born to her in incest - a woman who has a character that is rarely seen today. May God give her the strength to walk in forgiveness and restore to her a hundred fold now and in eternity. Take comfort that we all stand before the Lord at the end of our days and will render an account for all our deeds and will also render an account for standing by in silence when it was in our power to help - for all those who now surface with their confessions of suspisions and yet for decades said nothing. He rewards all according to their deeds.

Pressed about whether Rosemarie Fritzl could have known anything, Franz Polzer, the police chief of Lower Austria asked: “Do you think any wife in the world would be able to accept that kind of behaviour?” He added that no others were suspected of aiding Josef, saying: “We are not conducting an investigation into a crime involving accomplices.”
That’s some real thorough police work you have going on there in Austria folks!!! Why is it the police chief does not wish to investigate ALL possibilities?
