Has Josef Fritzl raped a woman before?
According to Austrias biggest daily newspaper “Kronen Zeitung”, Josef Fritzl has already raped a woman before he started to lock up his daughter and do the same to her.
It’s written that he has raped a woman in the city of Linz.
Fritzl was caught, brought before the court, and found guilty. But he was not thrown into prison for a long time. Unfortunately the daily newspaper “Kronen Zeitung” did not write more details about this case.
The Lower Austrian can expect a mild judgement, is written in Austrias newspaper. 15 years would be the maximum, but a much lower imprisonment is assumed. The important question is going to be, if the has killed one of the babies during birth or not. If the baby wasn’t viable, it’s not possible to accuse him of a murder.
At the moment Fritzl is jailed in a two men cell in the prison of Lower Austrias capital St. Pölten. Austrian reporters tell that he has a good life there. Yesterday he has received appetizing apricot dumplings for lunch.

During WWII, Amstetten had a horrific female concentration camp nearby. Unimaginable torture and depravity was inflicted on the female prisoners by the guards. Many of the Amstetten locals worked as guards. Fritzl was 10 years old when it was still running. Of course, the locals said nothing. No one stood up and said this is wrong. Many of the children of the camp guards still live in the town, but it is taboo to mention it. The entire Amstetten society psychology was forever wrecked by its complicity in the running of a German concentration camp. It’s easy to see how a young Fritzl monster was formed.
Women and children in Mauthausen-Gusen
Although the Mauthausen-Gusen camp complex was mostly a labour camp for men, a women’s camp was opened in Mauthausen, in September of 1944, with the first transport of female prisoners from Auschwitz. Eventually, more women and children came to Mauthausen from Ravensbruck, Bergen Belsen, Gross Rosen, and Buchenwald. With them came some female guards. Twenty are known to have served in the Mauthausen camp, and sixty in the whole camp complex. Female guards also staffed the Mauthausen sub-camps at Hirtenberg, Lenzing (the main women’s sub-camp in Austria), and St. Lambrecht. The Chief Overseers at Mauthausen were firstly Margarete Freinberger, and then Jane Bernigau. Of all the female Overseers who served in Mauthausen, almost all of them were recruited between September 1944, and November 1944, from Austrian cities and towns. In early April of 1945, at least 2,500 more female prisoners came from the female sub-camps at Amstetten, St. Lambrecht, Hirtenberg, and the Flossenbürg sub-camp at Freiberg. It is rumoured that Hildegard Lächert also served at Mauthausen.[32]
Common methods of extermination of prisoners, who were either sick, unfit for further labour or as a means of collective responsibility or after escape attempts included:
* Being beaten to death (by the SS and Kapos)
* Icy showers - some 3,000 inmates died of hypothermia - after having being forced to take an icy cold shower - and who were then left outside in cold weather.[43]
* Mass-shootings
* Medical experiments
o Aribert Heim, dubbed Doctor Death by the inmates, was there for seven weeks, which was enough to carry out his experiments[44]
o Another of the Nazi scientists to perform experiments on the inmates was Karl Gross, who purposely infected hundreds of prisoners with cholera and typhus in order to test his experimental vaccines on them. Between February 5, 1942, and mid-April of 1944, more than 1,500 prisoners were killed as a result of his experiments[45]
* Hanging
* Starvation
* Injections of phenol. (A group of 2,000 prisoners who applied to be transferred to the sanatorium were declared mentally sick and were killed by Dr. Ramsauer in the course of the H-13 action)[43]
* Drowning in large barrels of water (Gusen II)[46][47]
* Beating to death or starving to death in bunkers[48]
* Throwing the prisoners on the 380 volt electric barbed wire fence[48]
* Forcing prisoners outside the boundaries of the camp and then shooting them on the pretense (pretence) that they were attempting to escape[49]
Austia has failed Elizabeth. She is a World Citizen now. And we all should be given a chance to say and convey our love for her and her children.
Austrilian prisons condition may be better than that of the celler, so would it be a punishment for Mr. F from the Elizabeths point of view?

I would like to ask people from Austria a question, as I rally would like to know. Is it true that the worst crime this man did is rape? And is i true that the maximum penalty for this is only 15 years? How is this possible? Why this law is so inflexible? I mean he was raping his daughter for more than 30 years, and he will only get 15 years? This is absurd really, it makes me very angry!
And what about taking a human being as a captive for 24 years? Isn’t this even worse than rape? And he did that to 4 people, not one, not two!!! Since you have a history of abductions and locking people in cellars, shouldn’t you have changed your laws? I don’t mean to offend you, I am not implying that there is something wrong especially in Austria, or that these things don’t happen in other places of the world as well. What I am saying is that within the past 2 or 3 years there were 2 similar cases in Austria. That should have made you make your laws much stricter. It is beyond logic the fact that someone who locks a human being in a cellar for 24 years, will not be punished at least for an equal number of years! Anyway, my hope for this non-human being, would be to lock him up in a cell with nothing but a bed in it, and no one talk to him, not even to say hi, for the rest of his life. And under these conditions, I would wish him to live for another hundred years to suffer at least half the pain that he inflicted to his daughter and her children!
Santosh, you are correct. Elizabeth, her children, siblings, and mother do not need to be ashamed of being manipulated by this personification of evil, nor should their futures be allowed to be dictated by the past. It is up to all of us to support her. If far away, keep her in our thoughts. If near, help her and her children be as comfortable as possible, don’t ostracize or patronize her, and support them in all ways required to help them acclimatize to modern society and regain trust in society and each other.

he should be locked for 24 years and raped, and to make it WORSE not to meet anyone but the raper for 24 years. And never see the sunlight and not get medical care. But i still feel its not enough. No punishment can be equal to what he made.
Apparently, Austria’s penalties for heinous crimes are no more severe than New Jersey’s (USA). In a land where there is true justice, Fritzi would be subjected to a very slow, torturous death. He is indeed EVIL personified.
How could the courts in Austria treat the case of Josef Fritzl, raping his daughter and killing their baby, and then talk about apricots, and a jail sentence of less then 15 years. He should get the death penalty. How could his wife be so blind and not realize what was going on in her own home. The Austrian courts are a joke. And New Jersey’s courts in USA are ten times stricter then Austria, hands down.
I feel his wife knows more than she’s saying. Everynight he went to the cellar with food in a wheelbarrow? She was afraid of him so she never went to the police or to authorities.
She was no doubt a battered woman - someone took care of the food while he was vacationing. That poor woman - she did the best she could - giving birth in a cellar without medical intervention? He is a criminal - he ran a concentration camp in a cellar.
It is merely impossible that Elizabeth has never needed a medical attention in 24 years of imprisonment even during giving birth to seven children! It is merely impossible for a man to hide a ‘every day visit to the celler’ from his wife for 24 years! I suspect Elizabeth’s mother knew the things. This F* bustard should be executed without any formal trial. No human rights for him!
it seems Austria won’t give enough protection to normal citizen. it is silly that he can be in jail for 15 yrs only. deeply sorry for his wife daughter and kids of the daughter..may be they could move to other country or some other place to get nice life..

Don’t you remember a little bit the holocaust??? A man burning a dead baby, telling his family about the gas system if the tried something… and a perfect man living a normal life in surface while the hell was going under.

In my opinion the Austrian Laws are VERY WEAK! 15 yrs for locking up his daughter for 24 yrs. This is OUTRAGOUSE!!
At the very least he should be locked up in the dungeon he created for his daughter and children/grandchildren for the next 24 yrs. I am sure they would find many volunteers to beat and rape him on a regular basis.
I have not heard anyone mention the fact that his oldest daughter 19 is in the hospital in critical condition. This is his fault that she is almost dead. What if she dies ? Will that be enough to get him a “Harsher Punishment?” Or will they just serve him more Apricot dumplings and say,” That was a naughty thing that you did letting your daughter/granddaughter die.” “Would you like some more tea with your dumplings?”
Lets also not forget that he Kidnapped her.. Is there no laws against kidnapping in Austria? What about child abuse laws? It sounds to me like in Austria it is entirely O.K to beat, rape and torture your children and lock them in a dungeon. I know he does not represent all Austrians but the WEAK Laws are really maken Austria look bad.
Elizabeth and her family are the responsability of the World now.. We must all pray for her and her children and family.. The world has been also tortured by this case. Just the thoughts of the HEll he put her through is enough to have me in tears and give me nightmares. His lawyer is WRONG !! “THIS MAN IS A MONSTER!!!”

I think a proper punishment for this monster m is put him in the same dungeon for the same period of time (24 years) or 2/3 of that.

I will say that if all that stuff that Roman wrote is true .I can see why this young child could learn to be so cold blooded. It is no excuse but perhaps a strong reason how he could bring himself to do such a Horrible thing. What Monsters the Nazi has created.

How the Austrian authorities can understand, adopt, accept and had a status of limitation on this matter? Mr. Fritzl record is clean because his police record is 15 y/o.? What about Elizabeth 24 years in the basement? I think Austrian laws need a review. latie is right what about Kristen. Did he raper too?
Elizabeth the whole world is praying for you, and your family. May you and your family find love, peace, and many blessings. I thank God that you survived and escaped that monster! I will keep praying for your mental health. It is hard to assimilate that a father inflict fear-terror in inocent kids and then destroy their lives.
It is up to the rest of us now to raise our voices and not let this man be allowed any privileges of freedom. Fifteen years in a modern prison or more likely a mental hospital is not fitting for this monster. Reports are that he how is obsessed with all of the media attention to his crimes, while eating apricot dumplings! Speak out to the public officials and don’t stop until something is changed in this society that allows this type of tyranny.
THis is clearly and totally incomprehensible! But while we are reeling with the shock, total anger, disbelief and grief for Elisabeth and the entire family, I feel for everyone else who knew them and were also deceived. Imagine been the tenant who asked what those sounds were…more than 10 years ago and could have provided a tip-off so that they could have been freed even 10 years or more ago? I would go insane, now knowing this that I actually lived above these beautiful INNOCENT people.
And how can anyone reason that MR F. must get punished for 15, 20 or even also 24 years. I agree, he must live to 120 where he is put in a concentration camp for 30 years- then released to the public until he dies, so that they (we) can deal with him!! My anger overwhelms me so that I cannot sleep!

I have been so imersed in this sad shocking story..What an amazingly brave survivor Elizabeth is.. to have suffered so..May God indeed bless you Elizabeth..I have a daughter 24 years old, and to think that all her life Elizabeth was locked away in a tiny claustraphobic prison..
And the fact of that Womans prison during WW11 explains a lot.. About the mother, I think that if the people on the ground floor nearest the cellar didnt hear anything, then she certainly wouldn’t have.. And maybe the mother was kept busy on purpose with the grandchildren, to keep her from becoming suspicious..
Fritzl’s solicitor says he is a ‘broken man’. Well sure he is now the world knows what a monster he is. The solicitor is trying to get him certified as insane, yet he is a very clever conniving and cunning man who managed to hide his crimes for more than the 24 years poor Elisabeth was in the dungeon. He knew what he was doing was very very wrong, otherwise - why hide it? He will now play the mad man, blame everything and everyone else for his crimes including poor Elisabeth. The judge must not believe him, lock him up and throw away the key.
Good thinking Katie and Mechy, of course he raped Kerstin too, he must have started approximately 7 years ago. I bet lately since Kerstin started getting sick and Elizabeth too old and unattractive, the cellar was not interesting place anymore. I also bet lately his intention was to kill them all not to set them free.
Poor Elizabeth had to bury her pain inside and could do nothing to stop this monster cause she was locked up but, what about her mother Rosemarie? No one will believe the “JOKE” she was unaware of her daughter downstairs. Austrian Authorities should re-consider their laws and start a serious interrogation with Rosemarie. Elizabeth will try to protect her mother cause she knows her actions were out of fear and she shouldn’t go to jail, Elizabeth might also deny her daughter Kerstin being raped out of respect to a possibly dying daughter. Most of incests father’s wifes know about and co-operate to keep the family together and stop the husband from straying. Joseph’s record is so full of rape crimes, Rosemarie must have felt relieved when she found out abut his incestuous relationship with Elizabeth years ago. There’s no way Elizabeth could have given birth to 7 children without outside help. Only 1 of those children died, all others lived through the crucial 6 months risk without a deadly infection in a damp, airless, sunless dungeon????? Elizabeth herself has survived all her deliveries without major damage to her health????

I can’t think about this horror without weeping. No punishment is too severe or too swift for Josef Fritzl. As always I wonder at the “human rights” activists … what about the human rights of the victims?
In Canada we had a terrible man named Paul Bernardo who raped women in Scarborough, Ontario. He then met his future wife who he abused and got to help him lure even more young girls to him. She even drugged her own sister so that he could rape her. He had his wife film the torturings and rapings he committed. Only the murders were not taped. Our laws were quite relaxed where life sentences are concerned. Now, we have “dangerous offender laws.” This means that an individual stays locked up even after his/her sentence runs out if they have been deemed a “dangerous offender” by the court. This is to ensure that someone very likely to murderously re-offend does not hit the streets again.
After Natascha was found one would think that your government would have been responsible enough to impose a new law to address the fact that victims suffer decades after their forcible confinement and torture has come to an end. One would further think that your government would have imposed laws years ago to test DNA on babies of unknown origin to be sure that they are not missing children from somewhere else in the country. A simple test on the youngest “upstairs” child would have already determined that the child was related to Fritzl but in a dysfunctional way! Right now, anybody in your country can kidnap a baby and say that a relative left it on the doorstep and the police will not have a problem with it.
Your police have still not learned anything. They still think that Rosemarie knew absolutely nothing. They still think they will not find anything else on Fritzl’s other properties even though he is strongly suspected in at least one rape & murder not to mention arson among other sex crimes. When are your police going to learn? You have the dumbest most gullible police force in the world. You think that only other countries have crime but that yours is perfect! How many women and children must suffer before you finally wake up?????????????????
Alleterry, I totally agree with you. i hate the way the authorities are handling Elisabeth’s case and letting that pig in prison have hot meals and the many comforts he is receiving. I’ve sent in so many post asking those dumb authorities to start with the torture or get torture experts so that the pig speaks up. I haven’t slept ever since this case came up, how sad for the kid, esp the 18 year old boy, what has the F*….g monster made of these poor kids, please please kill the beast and do it openly so that other sicko’s like him will learn a lesson. I think the world should introduce a law of castration for rape only then will someone learn.
Why is no one updating us on Kerstine’s health…. Gosh I’ll die to know he has raped her too. And that fat old hen Rosemary, I never once think that b*ch is innocent, they should grill her as well for she is definitely a party to this.
