Latest news from Amstetten: police knew about dungeon
According to the latest news of Austrias newspapers and medias in the scandal of Amstetten, the police knew about the dungeon in the cellar.
The suspect has already received an official planning permission for this kind of cellar in the 70′s. So the authorities knew about the whole cellar. There were no secret rooms.
The planning permission was confirmed on the 31th October 1978.
On the 26th July 1983 the whole cellar was reviewed by the building commission of Amstetten. The individual structure of the cellar was not suspicious in those times. “It was normal to build cellars like that during the cold war”, explains a spokesman of Amstetten.
It’s not known yet if and what was changed from 1983 until today, but the assumption is obvious that something was changed
to the remark above of ppl not being aware: This could everywhere and too easy is it unaware! this situation is extreme but it makes you think that he is definitely not the only one who lives in this f-d ideaology of what one person may think is right! This guy was VERY SNEAKY and SLY!. The police could not of guessed that this upstanding citizen had his daughter and children locked down there for 24 yrs.
To me this says that he PLANNED this a very long time . He knew exactly what he was doing. He planned it very carefully.
I have a hard time to believe that the mother never had the nerve to be at least a little nosey and see what her husband was up to all those thousands of times he went to the Cellar. I can understand she was afraid to disobey him but what a Terrible price her daughter and grandchildren had to pay because she wasnt NOSEY. I am sure she feels terrible.. I pray for the healing of the family emotionally,physically and spiritually.
I feel that we need to pray that Elizabeth be healed so that she once again can understand that their are many beautiful things in life – even people! Yes, people! And that all of her children’s shortcomings be filled with proper education and loving tenderness.
What they need now despite medical checkups and psiciatric treatment is to be hugged and hold in arms that can fold around them with the utmost of warmth, kindness and tenderness.
And I am sure it will mostly come from strangers rather than own family members and neighbours.

everybody (incl myself) wants to see him punished to the max.. fair enough but it’s only blind revenge, so what if he suffers…what he took from them will never return
the victims are marked for the rest of their lives and no matter how much punishment he gets they will never be able to retrieve their lost chilhood innocence.. the tragedy is still continuing regardless the victims are taken care of.
examine in an objective way what can trigger the human psyche to create such horror and pain…
perhaps his upbringing contributed to turn hime into a monster..understanding his motives we could prevent this from reoccuring

I have terrible nightmares when i think of this terrible crime. I feel so much for Elizabeth for the pain and suffering she went through this hell for 24 years the same time as the great Nelson Mandella underwent in aparthied south africa. Even he will say that he did not suffer as much. I hope and pray she and the children will be able to make a full recovery though it will take a long long time, god be with them and look after them.

Try as I might I cannot think of a suitable punishment for the monster Josef Fritzl. The punishment suggested by Raj from India (above) comes something near but even then it would be too brief and he is an old man who unfortunately will not live long enough to live the protracted tortuorous existence he deserves, as indeed he knowingly inflicted on his own flesh and blood.
As for Elisabeth, I marvel that she survived so long. The depths of undescribable mental torment that she has been through and survived is beyond me. How did she overcome her revulsion at being repeatedly raped by her own father and then living with and lovingly caring for those children? What choice did she have anyway?
I cannot believe that any mother, no matter how terrified she was, would knowingly let this happen. Now it seems that some people did have their suspicions, for instance the tenenats in the apartment block. Of course, nobody would have suspected that Fritzl had incarcerated his own daughter in the depths of the cellar but surely others had their own suspicions about him for other reasons. I think this illustrates just what a demon he was and how he controlled others with fear. What about the other sisters and brothers? Why did they not seek Elisabeth out? Fear of reprisals no doubt.

where Fritzl is concerned bring back the torture master and let them practice on him till the day he die’s, a long slow death that is say 24 years sounds good to me. How could this keep happening and why is Austria becoming notorious for this kind of behaviour? The authorities need to check all bomb shelters and non public areas to stop this from happening. At some point right to privacy should not outweigh the rights of those held captive by these animals. No mercy and no reprieves. they have lost their right to exist within society the moment they perpertrated these horrendous crimes
In my opinion, Josef should be immediately killed. He should be ashamed of what he had done for 24 years, very long years raping his daughter. I never heard of any other case worse than this! Try to imagine your father raping you for 24 years and what’s the reason? Not to see his daughter being influenced by the outside world…this is truly the joke of the day!! A good excuse so he can be satisfied!! I am aware that Josef had a terrible childhood experience but he had NO RIGHT to do this to his OWN DAUGHTER!!

What comes to mind reading the latest on Natasha, is that now she is getting lots of publicity and money.. I am ok with that.
She has been through alot and does deserve a break. I am sorry if this is a bad thing to say. Criminals do learn frm eachother especially when in jail and such. The LAWS in Austria must be changed to protrect woman and children from such animals . Josef heard about poor Natasha when she was kidnapped and when she was found. Josef should of let Elisabeth go when he heard of Natasha . I would like to know if he even thought about letting her go after hearing about Natasha
I am so happy for Elisabeth and her children. When I look up at the beautiful sky first thing in the morning and see how beautiful it is .I know that Elisabeth and her children will even enjoy it more.

This is the most horrendous crime I have ever heard of. It makes me want to vomit. Fritzl has tortured so many people and deprived them of everything. What about giving birth without medical help and without any moral support? Can you imagine what it would be like? Living in the dark, day after day, without any hope, no one to talk to… I don’t know how Elisabeth managed to stay alive. She is a saint, the way she endured this and gave love to the children she was forced to have by the devil himself.
Fritzl deserves maximum punishment for his crimes, and yet I read somewhere that he will only get a maximum of 15 years in jail. How can that be possible? Is there any justice in this world? I hope they will give him a hard time, whererever he goes. What comes around goes around, and it will be true for him. How can anyone talk about forgiveness in this case?
But instead of planning revenge, let’s focus on brave Elisabeth and her children. The more people pray for them, the better their chances of recovery. I hope she will have the courage to write a book one day, as it might also help her get it off her chest. God bless you Elisabeth, my prayers are with you. I am a 45 year old mother of 6 and my heart goes out to you.
The worst part of this entire crime is that it has been done by Elizabeth’s own father. Just imagine how disgusted, repulsive and helpless she must have felt when her father raped her. I just cannot imagine how she gave birth all alone six times. She is a very strong woman for nurturing and protecting her children under the terrible circumstances. Her desperate attempt at persuading her father to take Kerstin to the hospital shows how much she cared for her children. I wish that she and her children live a very happy and normal life hereafter. Fritzl should be put in a tiny, windowless room just 5 feet high with a toilet in one corner. He should never be let out of the room or see another human. He should be given just enough food so that he does not die. He should be tortured everyday. He should live this way atleast for the next 24 years of his life. He should not die a quick death.
Elizabeth Fritzl is a brave and compassionate woman who went through hell to try to protect the unwanted children of incest. God bless her and her children. God damn her father. We all must question why her mother asked no questions for 24 long years.
