The 3.600 inhabitants town of St. Michael in the South Eastern corner of the Salzburg province, seems to become a part of the Netherlands.
Dutch people are crazy for real estates in St. Michael. If a house is for sale, the possibility is very high that it’s bought by someone from the Netherlands.
The beautyful scenery of the Austrian Alps, and the many leisure possibilities makes it very attractive for Dutch people to buy houses in St.Michael.
In addition to that, it also has fiscal reasons for retirement arrangement to buy a house in Austria.
St. Michaels mayor of the Peoples Party confirms that 100 percent of all sold real estates in his town are bought by people from abroad.
Such a development makes living for the average Austrian family quite difficult. The prices for real estates and living are increasing enourmosly. This is a serious problem for the low income region in the South Eastern corner of the Salzburg province.
As the Dutch are planning to spend their remaining years in St. Michael, the mayor also fears a huge financial burden for old-age care and pensioners residential homes. Austrians had to pay for their costs, because the Dutch paid their old-age provision all their life in the Netherlands.

we must pay to the st michael local goverment the old age provisions collected from the people that paid in the homeland
