Strache wants to be the mayor of Vienna in two years
by admin February 27th, 2008 in Politics
The leader of the Austrian Freedom Party Heinz Christian Strache has ambitious plans.
In two years he wants to be the mayor of Vienna.
In 2010 is the next election for the mayor position of Vienna. Strache wants to run for that kind of job, and he is sure to succeed.
Strache complains about an animosity against the native population of Austria. That’s why he wants to create an “observation point against native animosity”.
The current mayor of Vienna is the Socialdemocrat Michael Häupl, who rules with a large majority. Political observers estimates the plans of Strache as “quite adventurous”. Even the Peoples Party is far away to be a danger for the Socialdemocratic mayor.
Of course the Socialdemocrats are not so excited about the words of Strache. “Strache is doing everything to ruin the reputation of Austria in the world”, says the spokesman of the Socialdemocrats.
Also the “human rights speaker” of the Greens utters doubts. “The utterances of Strache are a quaint conglomeration of wet ideas”, he says.
Strache seems not to be impressed by the opionions of his political rivals. In his latest TV interview he is still dreaming to become the mayor of Vienna. “I am going to run for this job, and I am going to win”, he confirms.
