by admin January 28th, 2008 in General
The last weekend, was the weekend of “Hurricane Paula”.
Many parts of Austria were affected: obstructions in the rail traffic, 130.000 households without electricity, enourmous damages, and several casualties.
The hurricane had a speed of 150 kilometres per hour. The most affected part of Austria was the federal state of Styria.
Several people were hit by parts of the roof in the Styrian capital of Graz.
In Vienna the underground line “U4″ had to stop its traffic. Also the Viennese street called “Ringstrasse” was blocked.
In some parts of the railway connection between Vienna and Salzburg, the rail track was only trafficable by single-track. Many delays were the results.
Some holiday destinations had to close their ski tracks, like the one in Semmering.
