Vienna: so many fare dodgers caught as never before
162.000 was the total number of fare dodgers in Viennese busses, underground and tramways last year.
This is a record in the history of Vienna, and brought a fine of more than ten million EUR to the Viennese transport services.
The spokesman of the transport services told the reason about such an high number. “Not more people are trying to go for free as some years before. We just have more ticket inspectors now”, he explains.
Vienna has 70 ticket inspectors. The Viennese transport services want to use the fine of the fare dodgers to improve its infrastructure.
