Culture War in Carinthia: Green Party vs Orange Party
The Carinthian members of the green party are upset about their federal government. Yesterday the federal spokesman of the Greens declared a “culture struggle” against Jörg Haider, who is ruling the province with his orange BZÖ-party.
“Haider want to destroy our free cultural scene in Carinthia“, says the spokesman. “Now we are going to fight back! Resistance or decease”, he says combative.
At the moment the free cultural scene receives 0,6% of the budget for culture. “This is the lowest percentage of all other provinces in Austria”, says the cultural spokesman of the Greens in Carinthia.
The Greens also criticize the government spends too much money for the financial support of preservation of traditional customs.
