Opinion survey about Austrias biggest pride

“What is the biggest pride of the Austrians”, was the title of the opinion survey.
The results were no surprise: neutrality, Austrian way of life, cuisine, world famous musicians and on the top of the list the scenic beauties of Austria.
The same survey was made in 1975. Compared with the questionnaire this year, the two top positions stayed unchanged. On the first place are the scenic beauties of Austria which make 53 percent of the Austrians so proud (1975: 55 percent). Also the world famous musicians of Austria stayed on the second place since 1975, and were even able to increase their popularity from 31 to 39 percent.
Austrian ski racers are not such reason anymore to be proud about Austria. They fell down from 31 to 24 percent and lost their third rank to neutrality (35 percent).
The most increase in being a pride of Austria made the Austrian way of life by 20 percent from 9 percent in 1975. Also the Austrian cusinine increased in popularity: from 13 to 23 percent.
The biggest losers of the survey are the white Lippizaner horses. Their popularity among Austrians decreased from 22 to 10 percent.
Austrias older generation is more proud about musicians and the Austrian culture. Young Austrians prefer to be proud about the Austrian way of life and the famous Austrian ski racers. Austrias neutrality is more popular in the Eastern parts of Austria as in the Western parts.
