Every fourth Austrian is mentally ill

“Cost of Disorders of the Brain in Europe” is the title of the study. 28 European countries were investigated.
Experts expect a raise in mental illness in Austria during the next years. Already now the cost of mental illness amounts 7,16 billion EUR. 31 percent of the cost arise through absenteeism because of sick leave. 21 percent because of the treatment in hospital. Only three percent of the costs are needed for medications.
848.000 Austrians suffer under a anxiety disease. 479.000 have depressions.
