Life expectancy in Austria increased
According to statistics of Austria, there is a clear increase of life expectancy in 2006.
Today in Austria, on the average, men live a bit more than 77 years, and the women reach almost 83 years. In the year 2006 73,587 Austrians died, this is a decrease by 1.4 percent, compared with the year 2005. The most cases of death occurred in March (6,555), and the least – in September (5,524).
According to the reports from civil registration offices, the number of newborns in 2006 did not change significantly (-0.4%) in Austria. There were 76,925 boys and girls born in 2006, compared with 77,252 in the previous year.
