Bad weather cause worries for Austrian jam manufacturer Darbo
by admin February 22nd, 2007 in Economy
Adolf Darbo AG is one of the leading jam manufacturers in Austria, and made a successful result last year. The budget figures of 2006 clearly exceeded, but the bad weather cause an unpredictable fruit crop and lines of worry in the faces of the responsible persons in the company.
87,40 Mio EUR was the sum of sales of Darbo last year. This was 7,4 percent over the level of 2005. “We expect 90 mio EUR sales and an export ratio of 40 percent for this year”, says Darbo chairman Klaus Darbo. Also the amount of employees increased: from 258 to 280 workers.
The only worry for Darbo is the bad weather. Klaus Darbo: “The more and more frequently changeable weather fills me with concern. It is true we had a good apricot crop in Austria last year, but there is a shortage of fruits outside of Austria. Another cold snap this year would mean a dramatically increase of the fruit price and a severe decrease of our profit.”
