Austrians want to spend less money for christmas presents

According to a survey of the Gallup institute, every fourth Austrian wants to spend less money for this years christmas presents than last year. Only four percent wants to spend more than last year, 28% less, and 61% wants to spend the same amount as always.
Especially young people are not so motivated to spend a lot of money for christmas. Among the people under 30 years, even every third want to reduce his expenses for presents. 41% of the pupils and students plan to spend less. But also the generation over 50 years will try to save more money during christmas time.
The best savers during christmas live in the federal states of Upper Austria and Salzburg.
The voters of the BZÖ spend the most money for christmas presents: 13% of them want to spend more this year, than the year before. The voters of the Freedom Party are the ones who enjoy to save the money: 40% of them want to spend less.
