Municipal council election in St. Pölten

The municipal council election last Sunday in the Lower Austrian capital of St. Pölten made Socialdemocrats very happy. They won by 56,50% of votes and gain thus the absolute majority again.

The result:
59,61% Socialdemocrats
24,22% Peoples Party
07,21% Greens
05,68% Freedom Party
02,41% Nonner
0,49% Isik
0,39% GPÖ

So the Socialdemocratic major of St. Pölten Matthias Stadler has a good reason to smile. He commented the election like this: “I presented the best plan and want to continue the work for St. Pölten”.

His opponent Johannes Sassmann from the Peoples Party admitted that he failed to break the omnipotence of the Socialdemocrats, but he hopes to stay on the top of his party.
