The Austrian author and Nobel prize winner Elfriede Jelinek has her 60th birthday today. Chancellor Schüssel appreciates her work and activity in a letter to her.

Schüssel sees himself as a critical reader of Jelinek’s lyrics and theater plays. He also remembers his last meeting with Jelinek during the course of the festival “Steirischer Herbst” which caused to a “lively conversation” between Schüssel and Jelinek.

Schüssel hopes for more prolific impulses from Jelinek, which he describes as big exponent of world literature from Austria.
